Indigenous people are disproportionately affected by climate change and natural disasters, yet they are often marginalized from policy and academic discussions. In 2012, the University of Oregon hosted a student-focused symposium on indigenous peoples and climate change, which sparked great interest among students, faculty and community members. In April 2013, we will build on the interest sparked last year among the University and community by hosting a second keynote lecture in the Many Nations Longhouse.

This event will be co-sponsored by the University of Oregon Clark Honors College, the Environmental Studies Program, the UO Climate Change Research Group and other departments and groups on campus. The Climate Change and Indigenous Peoples Lecture will coincide with the 2nd annual University of Oregon Climate Change Research Symposium, which will be held on campus during the day on April 10, 2013.
